Strengthening Community Management Skills
Rumipos.com, Makassar, Minggu, 27/09/2026 — Gowa Menyala holds a two‑day training for dozens of literacy community managers in Gowa to improve organizational capacity and program sustainability.
The program takes place at Perpustakaan Abdurrasyid Daeng Lurang and includes 41 participants from 13 literacy communities and TBMs across the regency.
Participants also include representatives from Forum TBM Sulawesi Selatan, Forum TBM Gowa Regency, the Sulsel Library and Archives Service, and Gowa Menyala volunteers.
Coach Andi Bunga Tongeng explains that the training is designed to help communities manage literacy organizations and programs more purposefully, sustainably, and with broader impact.
“Pengelola komunitas dan TBM perlu memiliki kecakapan dalam menyusun program, mengelola organisasi, membangun kemitraan, mengelola relawan, dokumentasi, hingga evaluasi kegiatan. Kemampuan tata kelola ini penting agar program tidak berlangsung sesaat,” kata Andi Bunga Tongeng, Coach, Minggu, 27/09/2026.
Galang Pratama, Chairman of Forum TBM Sulawesi Selatan, says the training material matches real‑world needs.
“Pelatihan ini sangat penting karena masih banyak teman-teman pengelola yang kurang memahami sistem administrasi dan struktur organisasi. Padahal, berkomunitas pun kita harus tertib administrasi agar pengelolaan punya dasar yang jelas,” kata Galang Pratama, Chairman of TBM Forum Sulawesi Selatan, Minggu, 27/09/2026.
He also highlights the value of proposal‑writing skills, which can open doors to annual assistance.
Rifka Azisah Ibrahim, manager of TBM Umah Finger, notes the training provides a strong foundation for new operators.
“Melalui pelatihan ini kami bisa merancang program kerja yang terukur. Kami mendapat gambaran arah keberlanjutannya ke depan, sekaligus bisa saling membangun jejaring antarkomunitas,” kata Rifka Azisah Ibrahim, Manager of TBM Umah Finger, Minggu, 27/09/2026.
Andi Bunga adds that the literacy movement must expand beyond children as time progresses.
Through the “Ceritakan Bukumu” program, Gowa Menyala seeks to encourage adults to reconnect with books amid the flood of social‑media information.
“Jika ingin dampak yang lebih luas, Gowa Menyala tidak bisa berjalan sendiri. Kita harus berkolaborasi dengan TBM yang ada di desa-desa,” ujarnya.
The intensive training covers practical skills such as institutional governance, administration, collection management, volunteer coordination, monitoring, and evaluation.
Participants also practice creating community profiles and simple proposals.
The Literacy Community Management Training is a collaboration between Gowa Menyala and the Language and Literature Development Center of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education through the Literacy Community Facilitation Assistance Program.
Through this capacity‑building effort, Gowa Menyala hopes the volunteer‑based literacy movement in South Sulawesi will continue to grow and spread the spirit of igniting minds and hearts from Gowa for Indonesia.
