Mask Distribution in Action

PC Fatayat NU Makassar held a social action Thursday afternoon, handing out 1,000 masks to residents at the traffic light intersection of Jalan Masjid Raya Makassar, a main commuter route during rush hour.

The preventive mitigation titled “Berbagi Satu Masker, Berjuta Peduli” was led directly by the chairwoman, Nurul Husna.

Nurul Husna explained that choosing the location and the post‑work rush hour was a strategic move to protect commuters and field workers who are most vulnerable to pollutants.

“Medical research shows that haze from forest fires contains micro‑particles (PM2.5) and toxic gases that can trigger acute respiratory infections (ISPA) and cardiovascular problems,” kata Nurul Husna, Ketua PC Fatayat NU Kota Makassar, Kamis, 15/10/2026.

“The breadwinners who work on the streets for family economy must not fall victim to air pollution,” Nurul Husna said. “Preventive discipline and self‑protection awareness are fundamental shields for family economic resilience,” she added.

Support from Women’s Protection Agency

The field action was also attended by Mahira, S.H., Chairwoman of the Women and Child Protection Counseling and Assistance Agency (LKP3A) of PC Fatayat NU Makassar.

Her presence underscored that advocacy for vulnerable groups—including women, children, and workers’ families—must address concrete grassroots realities.

“Every citizen deserves clean air as a basic right,” kata Mahira, S.H., Ketua LKP3A PC Fatayat NU Kota Makassar, Kamis, 15/10/2026.

According to Mahira, breathing clean air is a constitutional right of every citizen.

Through the distribution of 1,000 masks, PC Fatayat NU Makassar aims to raise collective awareness about maintaining physical health amid the ongoing ecological crisis.

The initiative reflects a community‑driven response to the health threats posed by haze, emphasizing the importance of preventive measures in protecting public health.
